ABOUT MEFreelance WriterHey there, I'm Lauren. I'm a multifaceted freelance writer with experience in home and lifestyle, food, history, entertainment, feature writing, and shopping. I'm well known for helping my friends and other consumers save a pretty penny at the grocers and for finding affordable dupes that mimic expensive products. I also have an ardent and refined interest in food and am always looking to aid others with my kitchen hacks. Whatever the topic, I love sharing my tips and tricks with readers and providing engaging content to keep them informed on the latest trends.
Lastly, I enjoy developing feature stories that focus on art and entertainment. Head to my blog or LinkedIn to check out my articles with local bands, artists, and more. |

LOCATION
St. Petersburg, FL
I moved to St. Petersburg, FL, in 2019 to attend my second year of college. Over the years, I've learned that this city has a fascinating history, and everyone here has an enchanting story. Ask any local, and they'll swear up and down that infamous mobster, Al Capone, stayed in their century-old homes, bootlegging illicit booze in tunnels beneath the city. Talk to any service industry worker, and they will inform you about the heartbreaking tale behind the Don CeSar, our "Pink Palace." They may also tell you about the Vinoy and how it was humorously built based on a drunken golfing bet. And if you're lucky, you may even be able to converse with a St. Petersburg original herself, haunting the cathedral-style bathroom on the Pier.
As explored in my article "Where ominous shadows lurk in the Sunshine City," St. Petersburg has had a tumultuous past. But now, with its inclusive populace, inspiring art, and lively musical atmosphere, the Sunshine City can live up to its moniker outside of its record-breaking 768 days of consecutive sunshine. It is truly a spectacle, a place of peculiarity, and an endless source of my journalistic inspiration. |

ASPIRATIONS
Food and Travel Writing
When I first became a writer and journalist, I knew I wanted food and travel to be significant aspects of my career. For years, I’ve wondered about international cuisine and how it differed from the additive-filled meals we serve in the States: What are other countries’ interpretations of an “American” cheeseburger? How does Icelandic steingrímur bread compare to Pain de Campagne in France? Are there different or controversial ways to make similar meals, like the Cuban sandwich? Ultimately, I want to investigate the answers to these delectable questions– all the way down to the last crumb.
Along with sampling various cuisines, I want to create a warm and inviting guide for those diving into foreign waters for the first time. Explorations are personal, intimate experiences. Who else can say they’ve shared these adventures with you? I would like to make a welcoming blog that highlights the highs and lows of all things travel. Due to my rare advantage of obtaining unlimited and free airline travel, there’s no limitation on where I can take viewers. Spain, Portugal, Thailand, Mexico, Rio, the Philippines, anywhere. No matter the destination, my bags are packed, and I’m ready to go.
